About Me:

 

Hi! My name is Emily and I am a new MWSU graduate. I have a Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in Art and this will be my first year as an educator! I will be teaching 9th-12th grade and a section of advanced middle school art at Plattsburg High School. I will also be sponsoring Art Club and coaching volleyball at the high school level. I am very excited to begin and I look forward to what this new chapter in my life brings me!

My educational philosophy is a constructivist approach. I believe that students learn best when they are actively engaged and participating in the lesson. I also think that everything that you teach should be intentional. I am a very organized and thorough individual, so I always have a plan beforehand of what I am going to be teaching for the day. If teachers don’t have a plan and aren’t excited about what they are teaching, then how should they expect students to be invested? If we want students to be learning to the best of their abilities it has to start with us. Meaningful and engaging lessons are the way to go.
